The Cuyonon-English Dictionary
Available soon on Google Play and the Apple App Store
Cuyonon was once the dominant language in the province of Palawan, Philippines.
It is now in rapid decline. Cuyonon speakers are increasingly surrounded by speakers of other languages and subject to pressures to speak Tagalog and English. Few Cuyonon speakers teach their language to their children; many modify their speech into novel creoles.
Today, Cuyonon is an endangered language.
Join us in our mission to ensure it does not become extinct.
The Cuyonon-English Dictionary is the result of a project started in 1997 by Ester Timbancaya Elphick and Virginia Howard Sohn, and continued today by a team of passionate volunteers.
The dictionary will be available as a free app on Google Play and the Apple App Store in early 2025.
